Let’s get educated. A bundt cake is a ringed piece of flavorful goodness. It is the bright, warm sunshine on the 13th consecutive day of road salt, crinkly jeans and stuck eyelashes. It’s coming. Dead car batteries?

While we still have summer to enjoy, we should take advantage of some bundt cakes. It sounds more peaceful than taking over a country. Or manhandling a pet rock. Heck, let’s take lots of advantage. Let’s go to Nothing Bundt Cakes.

“The bundt cakes have the perfect ratio of cake to frosting.”

Lisa and I hosted a few friends, two of whom were from Canada, Jenn and her daughter Emily, and someone who is just out there, our dear friend Mark. In conversation with them, we talked up bundt cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes. We weren’t softening them up or buttering them up. (The bundt cakes as it were.) Lisa and I already knew them as perfection. We just wanted to share this wealth of knowledge with our friends. And get some bundt cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes.

Walking into Nothing Bundt Cakes offered a boutique feel but without the pretense. Bundt cakes were everywhere with Red Velvet samples to try. (See header photo.) Lisa and I had planned our strategy: four Bundlets of unique flavors for us to quarter and enjoy at home. We were promptly greeted and offered samples. When we were ready we ordered: Red Velvet, Lemon, Chocolate Chocolate Chip, and White Chocolate Raspberry. A seasonal flavor was also available. Last fall, a pumpkin variety sold like hot bundt cakes!

At home I got to tap into my samurai lineage and cut the cakes with my butter knife from somewhere in the utensil drawer. The cakes were cut, we were staring and my hands were shaking. Someone eat already!

Jenn and Emily were first to try. Jenn took a bite and pulled up short. She couldn’t believe how moist and tender was the bundt cake. She did a double take at her cake and exclaimed (in her Canadian accent), “The bundt cakes have the perfect ratio of cake to frosting. It’s a nice, creamy, cream cheese frosting.” She also was quick to add, “Put that in your *&^%$#@! blog.”

I put that in my *&^%$#@! blog.

Her daughter Emily was a bit more dialed down with her choice of words but amped up with her enthusiasm! She was working fast through the flavors when she said (in her Canadian accent too), “I love everything!”

I could see that.

Most of us know and remember bundt cakes bought from supermarkets or baked by someone with good intentions and bad skills. Erase your memory of those. Mark was curious to try these bundt cakes since he had such memories of other bundt cakes from the past. But these were Nothing Bundt Cakes bundt cakes and this was now, right now.

Mark tried the White Chocolate Raspberry, “A nice surprise. I can really taste the raspberries!” He was lucid and ready to roll. Lemon was next in the rotation. Mark took a bite and said something profound, like always, “You don’t have to drink milk with this cake. The Lemon is nice and refreshing. It’s my favorite!” What a gem.

Lisa also found that the lemon cake was her favorite, “It’s bright and the flavor stands out.” She was never one to go for sweets. These actually aren’t so sweet. The bundt cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes are moist, tender and serve up refreshing tastes. The best way to enjoy them, we have experienced, is to sample from each flavor brought home with a nice cup of tea or coffee, and with friends!
