It’s summer. The incessant churr of cicadas stirs up the humidity so thick I can almost taste it. I feel the sting of blistering hot sunshine piercing my skin. Roads shimmer and pools simmer.

When deep summer drags, fly as the crow does from the farm to the store—a place of premium milk, ice cream and more. Oberweis Dairy will take you back to your childhood and bring you back to your senses.

“The Black Raspberry Chocolate Chunk is fantastic! The black raspberry is not too sweet, and rich and creamy. I’m also getting a lot of chocolate chunks. Oberweis Dairy makes all these flavors come together very well—really delicious!”

I have many happy memories of Oberweis Dairy. It is an oasis for any season. Oberweis Dairy is my happy place to find the right head space. If you land overcast, you will take off beaming. Something good happens between here and there. “We make life a little happier and a lot more delicious.”

Lisa, my mom and I wanted (try again) needed (inside voice) decided to revisit our favorite place for super premium ice cream. Lisa always enjoys the fresh flavors of Oberweis Dairy. My mom really gets excited about their high quality. Me—being the straw that stirs the drink—I never stray from their thick and creamy shakes, so rewarding after riding a century, and so memorable when I was home from college during the holidays, their peppermint shakes with candy cane pieces, and, c’mon, you fill in the _______________.

The friendly staff were very accommodating as they welcomed us back. The store kept seeing abundant foot traffic from customers who exchanged empty glass milk bottles for fresh milk. Everyone was pleased with their goodies enjoyed in store or on the go. Lisa, my mom and I settled in, and eagerly awaited the arrival of our treats.

“I’m loving the Strawberry Old Fashioned! This is so nice and creamy. I taste the richness of the milk. The strawberries are big fresh pieces. I like coming to Oberweis Dairy because it’s very cheerful!”

My mom was first to order and receive her Old Fashioned with strawberries. Despite my mom’s discerning taste, this Old Fashioned went down the old fashioned way. Straight down. It was that good. I think the bottom of her cup might have increased in temperature a few degrees from all the intense scraping at the end.

Lisa likes her cones, so she chose the Black Raspberry Chocolate Chunk. This sounded like a sophisticated pairing of flavors. I expected Lisa to do her usual rotation of whittling down the scoop. She did, but it was much faster—faster than a pottery wheel. BRCC didn’t stand a ghost of a chance.

I was last to go like a marathon runner at the Summer Olympic Games. In truth this would be more like a sprint. With my Blueberry Pie shake in hand like a baton, I kept that sucker close to my face and even went past what should have been the finish with all the air sputtering. It was absolutely beyond good taste. It was heavenly.

“Oh, the Blueberry Pie Shake has just the right amount of thickness and creaminess! This is topped with light whipped cream and a crisp Pirouline cookie. I taste the freshness and tartness of the blueberries, and the pie crust flavor. Oberweis Dairy is my favorite place for shakes and ice cream!”

I asked everyone for their thoughts. My mom: “I’m loving the Strawberry Old Fashioned! This is so nice and creamy. I taste the richness of the milk. The strawberries are big fresh pieces. One taste of Oberweis Dairy super premium ice cream will bring a little happiness. Some want to find their beach. The rest of us want to find our oasis. Here we top our delights with a maraschino cherry. Raise a spoon, dive in, and it makes sense.
