This harvest season, Lisa, my mom, and I visited Royal Oak Farm Apple Orchard in Harvard, Illinois. Our first-time experience became a new tradition.

Royal Oak Farm Apple Orchard returns for another season of apples, pumpkins, baked goods, freshly-prepared food, country store keepsakes, family fun, and more.
U-Pick and Pre-Picked apple varieties are available.
The first stop is the Apple Barn where we will pick up bags of pre-picked apples to go.
The Gift Shop is packed with coffee, fudge, baked goods, apparel, seasonal items, country keepsakes, and other cozy favorites.
The store displays and offerings really evoke a deep nostalgia for everything good that we remember about this season.
Baked goods, fresh coffee, and flavorful fudge are popular.
The pies are loaded with fresh fruit, not too sweet, and topped with a crisp, flaky crust.
The jams are fresh and taste of the best of the local harvest.
There’s something for everyone around every corner.
Just outside the U-Pick and Amaze ’n Apples (apple tree maze) is the Harvest Barn with more pre-picked varieties.
Pick ’n Putt Mini Golf is a 9-hole, farm-themed course of challenging fun.
Every hole highlights one memorable feature of the farm.
Some of the holes are straightforward while others will have you struggling to get a grip.
The whimsical Playground is a safe place for kids to get out the zoomies before visiting the Petting Zoo.
There’s this stationary train, and a moving Royal Oak Express Train and Barrel Train.
The Royal Oak Carousel is hoppin’ with 14 gleaming horses.
The Petting Zoo gives everyone a chance to feed the animals for a quarter a handful.
Feeding time is the best time to see the little bunnies.
Steps from the Petting Zoo is an outdoor pen with horses and goats.
The Royal Oak Express Train is a working 19th-century replica train good for a tour of the farm.
The U-Pick Apple Orchard features several varieties of ripe apples as the best of each season.
This is where you will appreciate the quality of fresh-picked (by you!) local apples bursting with flavor.
Seeing this award absolutely reflected the quality and fun we enjoyed today.

We read the recent online reviews as we looked for a new apple and pumpkin farm, and we settled on Royal Oak Farm Apple Orchard. It seemed a safe choice. Let’s just say that we underpromised ourselves a little busy time but overdelivered a whole new tradition. We’ll be back to relive the familiar offerings, as well as dive in to the new seasonal updates. See you down on the farm!

  4. Really awesome, hope you had a great time… I’ve never heard of Royal Oak Farm before, and I’ve been to quite a few pumpkin patches myself. We usually go to Didier Farm, Apple Holler, and The Pumpkin Patch in Caledonia. Sounds like a place worth checking out next season 🎃🍎

        Nothing like apple picking and pumpkin patches to make fall feel complete.
