June is the month of tsuyu (rainy season) in Japan. It is a time of refreshment, newness, bright colors, and relaxing soundscape. The rains are welcoming and nurturing. Everyone wants to be out in the comforting showers just like Totoro, King of the Forest. Time and people don’t stop for the rain. June is here again, so let’s get going.

Every time I visit Japan, I easily take more than 2,000 photos over two weeks. Though there are days when I hardly shoot at all. Sometimes the camera gets in the way, whereupon I try to effectively record the moments in my mind. Cameras can never capture deep feelings, only surface emotions. But photos often do bring back these deep feelings when revisiting images from the past. And so I will keep journeying, and I will keep shooting. “Could you take my picture? ’cause I won’t remember.”

Having been to Kyoto I can attest, it is ALL the blogmaster says it is! This was the capital of Japan in a glorious era in their history and the sites and these pictures reflect it.
